Leading telecommunications services provider, Airtel Nigeria, has reaffirmed its positioning as a key promoter of corporate philanthropy and responsible social investments as it calls on corporate Nigeria to embrace the culture of giving during the premiere of season 4 of its award-winning Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, Airtel Touching Lives.

Speaking during the high-profile event, which held in Lagos at the Eko Hotel & Suites, yesterday (Sunday, 3rd June), the Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director of Airtel Nigeria, Segun Ogunsanya, urged Nigerians, especially corporate organizations, to support laudable causes in uplifting underprivileged Nigerians.

“I want to thank everyone in this room and to encourage you again; there is no limit to how kind any of us can be. My parting message is don’t spend your time asking why there are poor people in the world; it’s a waste of time.

“The right question is what can we do to change it? We are always going to have poor and unfortunate people amongst us. What next is what you can do to affect their circumstances and I am encouraging you to do something,”

Also speaking at the event, the Vice President’s wife, Mrs. Dolapo Osinbajo, commended Airtel for its commitment to helping the underprivileged.
“I remember attending Airtel Touching Lives Season 2 in Abuja and I still remember how inspiring it was. I congratulate you on the Corporate Social Responsibility as you have effected it in producing Airtel Touching Lives Season 4.
“I look forward to watching the episodes, I look forward to hearing the stories of those who need help and have found help, I look forward to it being an encouragement to all of us that can share to help those that need. I wish you a delightful event; once more, congratulations Airtel Nigeria.”

Atiku Shares Deep Lessons From Black Panther

Over the weekend, I joined my children to watch the much talked about ‘Black Panther’. It was a good film, and I was happy they took me to see it. However, I came out of the movie theatre a little upset. When the first scenes came up, and I saw “Sambisa Forest” I was unhappy that the only reference the film makers could have for Nigeria was a negative one, but I was later encouraged by the thought of Africans solving African problems. That is a good thing, the kinds of things we used to do. For young people who may not remember, Nigerian civil servants and indeed most able citizens used to contribute money every month to support the struggle against Apartheid in South Africa. Nigeria was the single stabilizing force across West Africa. Helping to restore peace in Liberia and Sierra Leone are examples of the gigantic status we once had.

Selling Smart Phone Pictures: When My Phone Photography Exhibition Abuja Held Recently

The maiden edition of the 'my phone photography exhibition' held on the 23rd of March. The Shehu Musa Yar'adua Centre located in central area, Abuja, played host to this event. It was an atmosphere filled with calmness but you could also hear the joy and excitement in the voices of the over 100 people who came through the exhibition doors.
The idea of the exhibition was born by one of the exhibitors (Omofuoma Agharite). Haven taken numerous pictures with her phone, she wanted to share those pictures with others and at the same time support a charity organisation. It was then that the idea was born and given to Ivy Events to nurture. After months of planning and execution, a group of exhibitors came together to showcase some of the amazing pictures that they had photographed with only their phones.
